Instruments of the orchestra

What are the 4 main instrumental families of the orchestra?
§String family
§The woodwind family
§The brass family
§The percussion family

How are the instruments played?
§String family: It is normally played by drawing the bow across the instrument.
§Woodwind family: blowing air through the mouthpiece and by closing and opening the wholes with your fingers
§Brass family: you vibrate your own lips by buzzing them against a metal
§percussion family: you hit it and it makes noises.

What materials are they made from:

§String family is made from different kinds of wood
§Some of the woodwind family is made from wood, metal, plastic, or some combination
§The brass family is made from wood
§The percussion family is made from wood and metal

The Djembe Drum
The djembe drum is part of the percussion family. The djembe drum is made in North Africa r in the Middle East out of clay, wood or metal. The head of the drum ( or the skin)  is normally made out of animal skin but nowadays it's made out of plastic so when you hit it it makes that ' smack sound'. You can play the djembe drum siting or standing up but usually it's played sitting down.

  1. I like that you included a string picture. It would have been good to include pictures for the other families as well. Some of your information is inaccurate (brass) and some information is minimal and missing out on important detail. The Djembe, whilst it is percussion, does not belong in an orchestra.
